Trauma Resolution Group for Women Survivors
Spring 2012 Group Forming Now

This group is designed for women with a desire to work toward healing childhood traumatic experiences within the safety of a group setting. Trauma can be caused by an overwhelming experience in childhood, adolescence that is perceived to be life threatening and is difficult to integrate or make sense of. This might include physical, sexual, emotional abuse or types of neglect.

Trauma Reenactment is present when past hurts and violations have not found a way to resolve. Self injury is an example of a reenactment in that the symptom keeps persisting until the underlying trauma is resolved. The long-term effect of unresolved early attachment and traumatic occurrences is reenactments. Individuals experience flashbacks, chronic illness or pain in their body, destructive relationships, and repeated self-destructive behavior. In many situations, working with childhood trauma is necessary for long-term symptom resolution.
In this group women will work toward processing experiences of victimization with the support and encouragement of both therapist and group members. Each woman will have the opportunity to safely address her personal triggers, related symptoms and her story; focusing on strategies to build a personal tool kit for recovery. This is done through expressive processes and experiences to help with emotional regulation and containment through mindfulness practice.
